Applications
Automotive: Fuel system components (fuel pumps, injector housings, filter bodies), transmission control modules and under-hood electrical connectors operating at elevated temperatures.
Chemical Pumps: Pump impellers, casings and valve bodies for aggressive chemical service — withstands HCl, H2SO4 and many solvents.
Electronics / PCB: SMT solder-tolerant connectors, relay bodies and PCB-mount components requiring reflow soldering compatibility (260 C Tg compatible).
Aerospace: Electrical connector inserts, clamp components and fluid handling parts in aircraft wet bays.
Notes
Chemical Resistance: Outstanding — one of the best of all thermoplastics. Resists virtually all organic solvents, strong acids (including HCl, H2SO4), bases and fuels below 200 C. No known solvent below 200 C. Only fluorinated polymers (PTFE, PVDF) have broader resistance.
vs PEEK: PPS: better chemical resistance at lower temperatures, significantly lower cost. PEEK: better mechanical properties, higher service temperature (250 C vs 220 C PPS). For most chemical service below 180 C: PPS is the cost-effective choice.
Processing Brittleness: Unfilled PPS can be brittle — design with generous radii. GF40 is standard injection moulding grade for most structural applications.
