Gunmetal CuSn10Pb2 — Sn-Pb bronze with good mechanical properties + excellent pressure tightness. For pressure-tight castings: valves, fittings, pump bodies and marine underwater fittings.
CuSn10Pb2 (EN CC491K / ASTM C92200 / Gunmetal) per EN 1982. Traditional gunmetal composition (used for cannon since 1400s). Pb (1.5-2.5%) aids pressure tightness and machinability while Sn (9-11%) provides strength and corrosion resistance. Sand or centrifugal cast. Standard for pressure-tight marine valves, pump casings, seacock bodies and any fitting requiring pressure tightness in seawater or freshwater service.
