Description

EN AW-1050A per EN 573-2. 99.5% minimum Al. Highest corrosion resistance, formability, electrical conductivity and weldability of all aluminium alloys. Low strength (Rm~80-120 MPa) limits structural use. Used for chemical equipment liners, food processing, electrical bus bars and decorative sheet.

Surface FinishRa 0.8-6.3 um — limited by chip control
Poor machinability — extremely ductile gummy chips. Primary manufacture by extrusion, rolling, drawing. Machining secondary. PCD tooling for production turning.
Applications
Electrical
Overhead power line conductors (AAAC — all-aluminium alloy conductor), electrical bus bars.
Packaging
Food foil, pharmaceutical blister pack foil and beverage can lids.
Reflectors
Lighting reflectors, solar concentrators and decorative reflective surfaces.
Chemical
Chemical plant linings, tanks for nitric acid and organic chemicals.
Technical Notes
💧
Corrosion Resistance
Outstanding atmospheric and freshwater corrosion resistance — better than all aluminium alloys due to purity. Attacked by strong alkalis (NaOH) and strong HCl. Perfect for nitric acid, acetic acid and most organic chemicals.
✅
Electrical Conductivity
1050A at 61% IACS is the standard for high-conductivity overhead lines (vs copper at 100%). Weight saving vs copper is 3.3x for same current carrying capacity — dominant overhead line material worldwide.
