Description

S460N per EN 10025-3. Normalised fine-grain HSLA steel with min yield 460 MPa. Nb+V+Ti microalloying gives fine grain size without Q+T. Weld procedure qualification per EN ISO 15614-1 required. Standard for heavy-lift crane booms, bridge girders and offshore wind foundation monopiles where S355 is inadequate.

Technical Notes
✅
S460N vs S355J2
S460N: 30% higher yield. For same load: 25-30% thinner sections → significant weight and material cost saving on large structures. CE typically 0.47-0.53 — pre-heat 100 C for t>30 mm.
