Description

POM-C (Polyoxymethylene copolymer, Acetal copolymer) per ISO 9988-1 is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic known for its outstanding combination of: (1) high stiffness and strength, (2) excellent dimensional stability (low and consistent water absorption), (3) low coefficient of friction and excellent sliding wear resistance, (4) good fatigue resistance. POM-C (copolymer) has better chemical resistance and easier processing vs POM-H (homopolymer, Delrin). Standard material for precision gears, bearings, bushings, cams and sliding elements in mechanical engineering.

Excellent machinability. Very clean dry cutting. Slightly stickier chips than POM-H but similar overall. Standard for precision CNC turning of mechanical parts.
Applications
Gears
Precision gears, worm gears and rack segments in printers, copiers and small appliances.
Bearings
Self-lubricating plain bearings, slide rails, guide rails and conveyor components.
Large Stock
For machining large rods and plates: POM-C preferred over POM-H due to better porosity control.
Food Equipment
FDA-compliant food-contact gears, bearings and guides in food processing machinery.
Technical Notes
βœ…
POM-C vs POM-H
Large stock (rod >80 mm diameter): POM-C preferred β€” better centre-line porosity control. Precision gears requiring max stiffness: POM-H (Delrin). Chemical resistance at >80 C: POM-C. Cost: POM-C typically 10-15% less than POM-H.

Self-lubricating Grade
POM-C+PTFE (self-lubricating) is the standard choice for dry-running bearings. The PTFE reduces friction coefficient from 0.35 to 0.15 and doubles PV limit. Standard specification for food-grade and clean-room bearings.
